Prof. Kanemaki gave a talk in a workshop focusing on protein degradation, which was held in the annual meeting of MBSJ.

We had an NIG international symposium on Genome Editing on July 4th and 5th. Famous figures in genome editing field such as Editing. Drs. Feng Zhang and JinSoo Kim were invited.


Together with summer intern students, we climbed Mt. Fuji.


Outside of NIG is full of cherry blossoms in early April.


Though cherry trees around NIG bloomed later than usual, they are very beautiful.

A formar lab member, Dr. George Watase, who is currently in Michigan as a post-doc, visited our lab on a sunny autumn day. He is going to get married soon. Many congratulations!!

On 26th of July, we went to lunch with our intern student, Aisha, to eat Japanese eel (Unagi).

Ms. Aisha Yesbolatova of Kazakhstan joined our lab as an internstudent on 1st of July. She is studying with us for one month.

Together with Kitagawa lab, we had a farewell party for Dr. Matsuura, who worked in Kitagawa lab for almost five years. Many thanks for sharing a good time!!

February 26th, 2014, Dr. Feng Zhang, who developed the CRISPR/Cas technology, came to NIG for giving a seminar.

NIG is located in Mishima which is close to Mt. Fuji. On a sunny day, we can see the mountain nicely. NIG can be seen at the bottom in this picture.

NIG is famous for cherry blossom. There are hundreds of different types of cherry trees in the campus.


Azaleas are also beautiful in spring.


Autumn leaves of ginkgo and maple can bee seen.


There are many water springs in Mishima, water of which come from Mt.Fuji.


There is a plant, Mishima baikamo (三島梅花藻), grows in spring water.


In Mishima, there are many restaurants which serve Japanese eels called Kabayaki. You can order a huge rice bowl with eels.
